Terms

Last updated 11 August 2026

These terms cover this website and the Run Club Starter Kit. They're written in plain English and they mean what they say. By buying or using the kit you're agreeing to them.

Who you're dealing with

Third Place Co. is a brand of Ceiling Search LLC, dba VulcanAX (“we”, “us”). Contact: hello@thirdplaceco.us.

Buying

The kit is sold for a one-off price with no subscription and no recurring charge. Checkout, payment and delivery are handled by Gumroad as merchant of record; their terms govern the transaction itself. Your download link appears immediately after payment and is also emailed to you.

Your license — one club

You get a perpetual, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the kit to start and run one run club. Under that license you may:

  • read, print and keep every document, for as many copies as your own club needs;
  • print and put up the posters, and fill in the blanks by hand or digitally;
  • copy and adapt the scripts, chat messages, captions and checklists into your own words, for your own club;
  • edit the .docx waiver and sponsor one-pager and put your club's name on them;
  • hand the waiver to your runners and collect their signatures.

What you may not do

  • resell, sublicense, rent, or give away the files, in whole or in part;
  • republish the documents publicly — including uploading them to a file-sharing site, a Drive folder open to the public, a course platform, or a forum;
  • use the kit to produce a competing product, template pack, paid course or coaching offer;
  • use it to run clubs as a franchise, a chain, or a service you sell to third parties — that needs a separate license, so email us;
  • remove or obscure our authorship, or present the material as your own work for sale.

“One club” means one named club in one place. If you go on to start a second club yourself, email us and we'll sort you out rather than making you buy it twice.

Who owns what

We own the kit — the text, layouts, posters, templates and this website — and nothing here transfers that ownership to you. Anything you write, add or fill in yourself is yours. IBM Plex, the typeface used throughout, is licensed under the SIL Open Font License.

The waiver template is not legal advice

This matters, so it is not buried. The waiver and release template, and every other document in the kit, is a general starting point, not legal advice. We are not your lawyers. Liability law varies by state and by country, and whether a waiver holds up depends on your jurisdiction, your facts, and how it was signed. Before you rely on it — and certainly before you charge money, grow past a handful of people, or run anything with real risk attached — have a lawyer where you live review it. The same goes for anything in the kit touching insurance, permits, sponsorship agreements or tax.

No guarantee of results

The kit is a set of documents and defaults that reflect what tends to work. It isn't a promise that your club will reach any particular size, last any particular length of time, attract sponsors or make money. What happens depends on you, your neighborhood and a lot of things nobody controls.

Run responsibly

Organising a group run puts you around real people doing physical activity in public places. You are responsible for how your club runs — routes, road safety, pace policy, weather calls, first aid, permits, and anything that happens on a run. Nothing in the kit substitutes for your own judgement, and we are not liable for what happens at your events.

Refunds

Seven days, no questions asked. Full details on the refunds page.

Liability

We provide the kit “as is”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties and are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Where liability can't be excluded, it is limited to what you paid for the kit. Nothing here limits liability for fraud, or for anything else that can't lawfully be limited. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

This website

Use it lawfully; don't attempt to disrupt it. Links to other sites (Gumroad, Cloudflare) are for convenience and we're not responsible for their content. The site is provided without any guarantee of uninterrupted availability.

Changes

We may update these terms. The version in force for your purchase is the one published on the day you bought, and the date at the top of this page tells you when it last changed.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. If you're a consumer, this doesn't take away rights you have under the mandatory law of the country you live in.
